Everything
about these instruments says "quality." The attractive rubber armoring
and hefty all-metal CNC-machined and cast aluminum construction is
guaranteed to last for many years to come. The optical quality measures
up to that of the precision mechanics, which makes this an excellent
instrument for astronomical use. The center focus (CF) model is also
oustnding for wildlife observation. Optics are fully broadband
multi-coated, and prisms are crafted from high-index BaK4 glass.
Collimation can be adjusted by experienced users, if necessary. Each
binocular is covered by our two-year warranty and 30-day return policy.
Every
Garrett Optical binocular must pass a rigorous 14-point inspection that
insures a high degree of both optical and mechanical performance,
including accurate collimation. Any necessary adjustments are performed
by a highly experienced technician on a U.S. Navy Mark V Collimator. An
added perk is that every Gemini Waterproof binocular comes with a deluxe heavy-duty carrying case with
durable PVC armoring and aluminum trim. The cases are lined with soft,
"egg-crate"-style foam for maximum protection.
Both models weigh
in at 7.5-lbs. and utilize triplet objectives for outstanding
performance across their 3° field. At night, the high-resolution optics
will reveal Jupiter's moons and stunning detail in our own moon's
craters. But where binoculars really
excel is deep space observation, and these 20x80's will reveal
star clusters, nebulae, and the brighter galaxies as only a binocular
can show them. Both the 20x80 TWP-IF and 20x80 TWP-CF feature a
heaviy-constructed aluminum center brace with a built-in rubber-footed
tripod adater for easy mounting.
The IF
version utlizes smooth, CNC-machined individual focusers that provide
the preision focusing essential for maxium performance on astronomical
tarets. A new feature on the IF version is the integration filter threads into
the eyepiece assembly, to allow the use of any standard 1.25" nebula or
moon filter. This is a great bonus for amateur astronomers that has the
potential to enhance the observing experience. The CF version uses a
high-quality conventional center focus arrangement with twist-up eyecups
and a right diopter, for those who plan to use their binoculars for terrestrial as well as astronomical
observation.
