| The 501HDV is the new, much-improved version of the popular 501 head. The Bogen 028B tripod and 501HDV head combination is the ultimate tripod setup for our Gemini 20x80 TWP-IF/CF, 25x100 WP-IF/CF, and 30x100 WP-IF.
With a maximum capacity of 26.5 lbs., the Bogen / Manfrotto 028B tripod (formely known as the 3246) provides rock-solid stability. Its adjustable height center column make it easy to raise or lower the binocular to the ideal height either when moving from target to target or simply to allow a shorter individual to appreciate the view.
Redesigned to accommodate evolving technology, the 13.2-lb. capacity Bogen/Manfrotto 501HDV now features improved drag in both axes and an adjustable counterbalance system for even better stability at the unusual orientations encountered during binocular observing. A sliding quick-release plate helps balance uneven payloads and dual rosettes permit left- or two-handed pan handle configurations. We strongly recommend purchasing a second pan-handle for the 501HDV head – this makes it easier to control heavy binoculars while panning, in addition to providing added comfort to the observer. The 3246/501HDV combination is extremely tall, with a maximum height of over 93 inches – just one more reason it is such a great choice for our heavier binocular models.
