Our new Series 5000 Tripod + Head combo is designed to be simply the best value out there in an affordable heavy-duty tripod for binocular astronomy. Essentially comparable to the much more expensive Bogen/Manfrotto 503HDV series head and 028B tripod. Specifically designed for use with our largest of astronomical binoculars, it can accommodate observers of virtually any size with a fully-extended height of 84 inches (that's right, 7 feet!)
Better yet, this tripod is extremely well built of heavy aluminum tubing, with crank-adjustable center column and an adjustable spreader for easy height adjustment. Features comfortable rubber grips on two of the three legs. The heavy-duty video head is fabricated from cast aluminum and features adjustable tension and extremely smooth operation. Includes a quick release plate with a standard 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded studs and dual rubber-padded pan handles. Weighs 15 lbs., and the head has a 17.6 pound (8 kg) capacity with an internal counter-balance spring to help offset the weight of heavier binoculars. Expect a 1-2 second damping (vibration settling) time with a 10-lb. load, and a 2-3 second damping time with a 16-lb. load. Also works great for digital SLR's and other heavy still or video cameras. Comes with a nice padded carry bag and is covered by our 2-year warranty.
This tripod can be used to support binoculars up to our 16-pound Signature 110mm models. It is best suited to our 10-pound Signature 85mm and Gemini 100mm models and our 13.3-pound 100mm F/5.3 binocular telescope.
The optional Manfrotto 181B Auto-Dolly makes it easy to wheel the entire unit around an observatory, deck or garage.
Pricing: $300, or just $250 when purchased with certain new binoculars!
Please note this product was not designed or intended by the
manufacturer for use by a child 12 years of age or younger.
Here's what reviewers and customers are saying about Garrett Optical's binoculars:
The Series 5000 tripod was received in good order! Actually, I wasn't expecting a case, let alone a quality padded one! So, for me this was a bonus! Everything matched well ... the 5000 is a perfect fit. It truly has enhanced the viewing experience. A colleague of mine, long time sky watcher, and astronomy instructor, related to me that "the GT100-45 binocular telescope is the best instrument he's experienced for viewing large portions of the night sky." That's high praise from someone who's been stargazing for 50 years!... Thanks for your fine products and service!
